Amazing Thailand

1 month ago I was sitting here at home, typing away at the same place, about packing up and leaving for my adventure. Now, it looks as though I’ve never left, in a cinematographic point of view. But things are different. For one, my bedsheets.

And of course, I put on a bit of weight. Just a bit. Mostly, the change took place on the inside. It’s the intangibles that always change lives. Thailand was good, and special to me, but this is home and I should have come back 5 days earlier. I had to pay 2500 Baht - 100 SGD - cos I didn’t know about the visa I needed to stay for more than 4 weeks. Rest assured that the Thai officer gave me a receipt for it ;)

So we bid farewell, Bangkok, people I love, and me. Brought what I gained there (30kg of goods, not fats) back to this sunny island I’ve missed dearly to begin a brand new journey here at home.

How exciting. But this journey belongs somewhere else.

The infamous Bangkok Jam. Vehicles slither in and out, sometimes in totally opposite direction, a dangerous feat only the Thais are used to. Taxi cabs have no backseat safety belts, leaving the passengers to hope in prayers and keep awake till the time runs out and the meter runs on.

This beautiful black swan wanted to get close. But that’s the closest she could get because she prefers to stay in the water than on land. Her feathers are amazingly clean but you can’t spot a spot against the darkness of her colour. Nobody would really know. Nobody gets close enough. This was the closest I could get.

The heart’s a rebel and there’s no way you could cheat it into believing that something that matters does not. There’s no possible alternative to feeling the impact of home, a thousand miles away, no matter how fast and well the adaptation takes place.

I can keep going. My roots are adaptors. But I will always miss home.
